Introduction

Privacy of personal information is very important.  The Privacy Act 1993 applies to almost every person, business or organisation in NZ, including Churches.  This means that Parishes must comply with the Act when dealing with personal information.  

To help with the treatment of personally identifiable information that is collected or held it is important to understand what is classed as personal information along with the privacy principles that cover all aspects of how personal information is dealt with.
