Join Us in the Potting Shed: An Invitation for Ministers, Elders, Leaders who carry the daily work of tending Christ’s church

A Potting shed is where hands get a little dirty, tools get sharpened, and new life begins in small pots on a bench.

Whether you’re a seasoned ministry leader or just starting out it’s a chance to:

  • Sharpen your tools or add to your kete (basket) – pick up practical skills you can use in everyday ministry.
  • Read the seasons — take time to notice what’s happening in our communities and consider where new growth might be ready to sprout.
  • Gather around the potting bench — swap stories, encourage one another, and learn from fellow disciples.
  • Survey the vineyard — consider the view; what is unfolding across the landscape of our churches and how might that inform us.

Led by DAVID RIETVELD, Lead Consultantid is a published author – his book Being Christian after Christendom explores four questions: Where are we? How did we get here? What went wrong? What is the solution? This book is a dialogue between sociology, philosophy, history, and theology about the state of the world, and the church’s role.

David commenced a PhD and has published journal articles on listening to preaching. He is also trained to lead Intentional Interim Ministry with TMAA, and in Conflict Management with the Alban Institute.

David has a heart for cross-cultural mission. He has led partnerships between Australian churches, and sister churches in Cambodia, Myanmar and Uganda. He was the chair of CMS Tasmania.

David is married with four adult children.
